Month in Review: Sept. ‘25

Reading..

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid was my first book of the month. The research alone that must have gone into this book is insane. 4/5 stars!

I finished Somewhere Beyond the Sea by T.J. Klune the second week of September. It’s a sweet ending to a series, but I preferred the first.

My current audiobook that I’ve just about completed is We Are All Guilty Here by Karin Slaughter. It’s a darker murder mystery similar to The Gods of The Woods by Liz Moore—it’s definitely not a light read, but it has me hooked!

I’ve recently started Lost Souls Meet Under a Full Moon by Mizuki Tsujimura as well as The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown. Both have a magical or fantasy element to them, grounded in reality. If you’re a fan of The Midnight Library you might like these as well.

To many recommendations I began Red Rising by Pierce Brown, but this month it was a bit too.. dirty? for me? As in, literal dirt hahah I think I’ll pick it up again shortly but had to forego it for a ‘cleaner’ tale. The world building is so descriptive and unfortunately I am a Virgo that hates dirt yet lives with a dirt-prone golden retriever, so maybe it was just poor timing on my end lol

Find me on Goodreads :)

Watching..

I’ve been rewatching Downton Abby after getting sick after a work trip up to Vancouver, B.C., and have decided there’s no better comfort than a period drama.

It’s Complicated was the perfect companion to September grasping onto summer as long as it could. Nancy Meyers has a way of making the homes in her movies their own character, but the house in It’s Complicated is in a league of its own. The open floor plan, banked with windows and views into the gorgeous garden, will make anyone drool—let alone having Meryl Streep baking pan au chocolate from scratch!!

Looking forward too..

Busting out my favorite sweaters, putting on a candle and music, and making soup

My pup, Archie, turns two the first week of October!! We had big plans last year for his first birthday (I know how it sounds lol), even to the point of me painting a birthday banner for him with a portrait of him (I KNOW, I KNOW). However with us trying to organize our new home and my school finals, life overwhelmed us and we never ended up making moves on our big plans for our golden boy. This year we’ll probably treat him to a run through the woods, some locally baked pup treats, and maybe some visits from his favorite people. We live on the street where all the kids walk by and everyone knows his name, a local celebrity one could say. So as silly as it might sound, maybe we’ll have a little sign and treats out for all of his “fans” to say hello. Yes, I am that crazy dog mom. Happily so.

What’s on my Wishlist..

It seems that a change of seasons always gives me the shoppies! I have been cycling out my wardrobe each season, and this changeover has reminded me of my favorite pieces so I haven’t felt the need to purchase too much. I did however change out a few sweaters as well as a pair of barrel pants, silk pants (a lovely gift from my MIL!), and classic trousers. I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of perfect brown boots for the past year or so, but nothing has met my specifications just yet unfortunately. The hunt goes on!

On the home front, I’ve been decorating my office/wardrobe the past few months. Starting with a fresh coat of paint and some second hand sourcing. I’ve finally gotten framed a few pieces of art I’ve found while traveling, and I must say custom frames really do make a difference. I’ve recently been using frameiteasy.com for custom framing and so far so good! There are a few home scents on my radar that I smelled visiting my best friend in Costa Mesa recently, one being Salt + Stone’s Saffron + Cedar. Trust me, it’s THAT good.
